DRIVER TECHNOLOGY (DAC/AMP HARDWARE)

The Hidizs S9 Pro Plus uses the ESS ES9038Q2M DAC chip, known for low distortion, high dynamic range, and excellent detail retrieval. It supports DSD512, PCM 32bit/768kHz, and offers powerful output in both 3.5 mm single-ended and 4.4 mm balanced modes. The upgraded audio circuit improves channel separation and provides cleaner, more stable power delivery compared to earlier S9 models. With <0.0006% THD+N and up to 180 mW @ 32Ω (balanced), it drives both sensitive IEMs and moderately demanding headphones with ease. Its aviation-grade aluminum body helps with heat control and durability.

TUNING PHILOSOPHY (SOUND SIGNATURE)

The S9 Pro Plus aims for a neutral-clean, highly transparent sound signature. It enhances clarity, micro-detail, and dynamic impact without adding coloration. Bass stays tight and controlled, mids sound natural and open, and treble gains crisp extension without harshness. Thanks to its strong output and low noise floor, it pairs well with almost all IEMs—from warm, bassy sets to bright, analytical models—without introducing hiss or distortion.

OUR VERDICT

Who it’s for: Ideal for audiophiles, travelers, and content creators who want a powerful, portable DAC/amp with balanced output. Great for both casual listening and critical monitoring.

Strengths: Clear, neutral sound; strong balanced power; wide format support; premium build; low noise floor; compact and heat-efficient.

Limitations: No hardware volume buttons; Lightning cable must be purchased separately; can drain battery faster on mobile phones.

Value: Excellent—one of the best-performing DAC/amps in its class, offering desktop-like clarity in a pocket-sized format at a competitive price.
