DRIVER TECHNOLOGY

The Castor Bass edition uses the same dual 10 mm stacked dynamic drivers as the Harman model—one woofer dedicated to sub-bass and one driver for mids/highs. Powerful N52 magnets and a dual-cavity structure give strong output and fast transients. What sets this version apart is its tuning system: specialized filters and damping increase low-frequency sensitivity by over 10 dB, unlocking deep, subwoofer-like bass while keeping mids and highs clean. The 3D-printed internal frame stabilizes both drivers, helping maintain clarity even at high volume. DIP switches allow up to 16 profiles, letting you fine-tune bass and treble to taste.

TUNING PHILOSOPHY

This edition is built for bass enthusiasts. The default signature is a bold U-shape with massive sub-bass and mid-bass boost, while mids and highs stay aligned with the Harman curve above 1 kHz. The bass driver delivers powerful rumble without overwhelming vocals thanks to the dual-driver separation. Treble remains smooth and clear, avoiding sharpness. Overall, the Castor Bass version provides a thrilling “club-style” low end while maintaining musical clarity, making it ideal for EDM, hip-hop, and bass-heavy modern genres.

OUR VERDICT

Who it’s for: Perfect for bass lovers who want powerful sub-bass without sacrificing mid and treble clarity. Also suitable for DJs, drummers, and musicians who rely on strong low-frequency monitoring.

Strengths: Exceptional bass depth and slam; clean mids despite heavy low end; smooth treble; solid imaging thanks to dual drivers; tuning flexibility via switches and filters.

Limitations: Not neutral—bass can overpower certain genres if left at max; slight pressure feeling due to strong sub-bass; requires careful filter handling; consumes more volume/power than the Harman version.

Value: Fantastic for bassheads. You get serious subwoofer-like performance at a budget price while still keeping clarity—rare for this price category.
